Citizen Ambassador Program


Rwanda

People to People Citizen Ambassador Programs offers specialized international travel programs for professionals that help you build your local and global network, develop your career, and open the door to people and places beyond compare.

Join leader Gregg Herman, a past chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Family Law Section, traveling to Rwanda in December 2011. Delegates will take part in facility walk-throughs, informal social events, and roundtable discussions with their professional counterparts in the legal field.

Your Rwanda Program:

The objective of our delegation will be to meet with legal professionals in Rwanda so that we can learn from each other, make friends, and establish bridges for communication and future exchanges of ideas and people.

Our delegation will explore and discuss:

  • Similarities and differences between our systems of law
  • How culture and history shape the development of each system of law
  • How a legal system can be built from the ground up, including what lessons can be
  learned from the experiences of other countries and cultures
  • How each legal system resolves disputes by the rule of law
  • The challenges, successes, and failures of the Gacaca court system

"It is a great honor to be asked to lead a delegation for People-to-People to Rwanda.

This will be my third opportunity to lead a delegation.  In October, 2009, I led a delegation to South Africa.  In October, 2010, I led a delegation to Vietnam and Cambodia. 

Both experiences were outstanding.  The education, cultural experiences and friendships gained as a result of these trips were incomparable.
