DOMA Ruled Unconstitutional By 1st Circuit Court of Appeals

Yesterday, the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) is unconstitutional.

Personally, I wish gay marriage was legal everywhere, not only from a philosophical point of view but from an economic one — the more people who get married the better from my business!

But from a legal point of view, as I wrote in an article published in the American Journal of Family Law recently, while there are pros and cons to same sex marriage versus domestic partnerships, the current mishmash of laws is highly confusing.

Of course, this is just one court of appeals.  Hopefully, the U.S. Supreme Court will accept cert.
