Consultation Process
You need a family law attorney.
So what now?
When you call our office for the first time, your call will be answered by one of our compassionate support staff.
We will ask a short series of questions which are necessary to avoid a conflict of interest and allows one of our attorneys to speak with you. You will then be transferred to an attorney to discuss our consultation procedure.
The attorney will speak with you to get a feel for your family law matter and assess the complexities of your case. This will help ensure that we will be able to assist you - or guide you elsewhere, if need be.
As you are not a client of the firm, we can not give you legal advice during this process. The attorney will however offer you the option to meet with them for a face to face consultation.
Unlike other law firms that may offer you a short free consultation, the law firm of Loeb & Herman does charge for consultations on a flat fee basis. What separates our law firm from others is the time we spend with potential clients. You will be provided hours instead of minutes to discuss your potential case at length and in depth.
It is at this time when you will be provided answers to many of your questions. At the conclusion of your consultation you will be provided with information regarding our legal fees including the retainer fee.
The consultation does not obligate you to retain this firm to represent you in legal action. It is designed to give you legal information and an opportunity for you to assess your comfort level with our firm.
Included in your consultation fee is the opportunity, on a reasonable basis, to call us later for followup questions if no legal action is commenced immediately.
Fees/Costs
Whether you are affluent or on a fixed income, it is understandable that you want to know how much legal representation is going to cost you.
Of course, we are not able at the beginning of an action to tell you "exactly" what your case will cost. The final cost is dependent upon a number of factors, including the complexity of your case and the degree or lack of cooperation by you and your spouse.
